Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Selbstverteidigung
für Frauen
~New date~

Saturday, 19.05.2018, 13.00 – 16.00
3-hour workshop with a 10-15 minute break in the middle.
The workshop is a look into the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu self-defense program for women, which in its basic form, consist of 15 essential techniques that focus on how to apply leverage, technique and timing so you can defend yourself against larger and stronger opponents and very importantly, how to make the techniques work regardless of age and athletic ability.
The goal of the workshop is to cover 4-5 basic self-defense techniques that cover the following subjects.
– How to effectively avoid being taken to the ground against a larger attacker
– Breaking free when someone grabs your wrists/hands
– How to free yourself when someone grabs/pulls your hair
– Effective ways to stand up and managing the distance to a potential attacker
– How to escape from underneath an attacker pinning you to the ground
Besides the practice of the self-defense techniques we will also spend some time talking about the philosophy of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, as it is very important to understand the mindset and approach behind the application of the techniques, as this is one of the key elements that has made Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu so efficient and also the main reason why it is the fastest growing martial art for self-defense around the world.
The instructor is Michael Maarup Pedersen who is originally from Copenhagen, Denmark, but now lives in Vienna where teaches both kids and adults in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Michael is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has been practicing for more than 14 years and teaching full time for the past 5 years.
Anyone is welcome to join and no prior experience is needed to participate in the workshop. Although the workshop topic is „Self-Defense for Women“, the class is open to men. Minimum age is 14 years old. I’d recommend anyone from age 14-16 to be accompanied by an adult.
The workshop will be held in English
